FAQs

  • bride holding a bouquet ready for pressing

How soon after the Wedding or Event do you need my flowers?

The sooner the better! But definitely within 3 days of your wedding or event. This ensures that the flowers are as fresh as possible for pressing.

If your flowers arrive more than 4 days after your wedding date I may not be able to preserve them.

  • calendar to book your bouquet preservation services

Do I have to book in Advance?

Not at all! I can do last-minute bouquets if I am not already fully booked.

If you have just had your wedding/event then contact me immediately and I will get back to you ASAP so we can act fast to preserve your flowers.

Pre-booking ensures your place however I understand that it isn’t always possible. Just get in touch with me as soon as you can!

  • bouquet preservation - a wonderful wedding present

Can I purchase this as a gift for someone else?

Absolutely! I have had several close family members or friends of brides book bouquet preservation and it is always a lovely present for the happy couple!

If you are happy to, you can book the whole process for them or you can purchase a gift card which can go towards their preservation. As long as the bouquet is sent to me within 4 days of the wedding I am happy to do either.

How do I get my flowers to you?

If you live in or around Lancaster then you can drop your bouquet off at my workshop. If you are further afield then you can post your bouquet for me. I have a whole blog post about this here.

And once you have paid your deposit I will send you detailed instructions as well.

How long will my order take?

This is hard to gauge as each bouquet is different and all flowers take different amounts of time to press and reconstruct.

In general, I’d say that bouquets can take between 6-7 months however there are lots of factors that can lengthen this time frame.

Patience is essential as I must ensure that each petal, leaf and flower is completely dried before framing to help prevent mould or rot.

Do I have to pay for delivery?

Yes, you do have to pay for delivery on top of the cost of the frames and preservation process.

You will need to pay for your bouquet to be sent to me here in Lancaster (unless you’re local in which case we can organise a drop off). I highly recommend using a next-day, signed-for delivery service such as this one from the Post Office. As of January 2024, this should cost between £12 and £15.

You will also be charged a Postage and Packaging fee when I return the frames to you. This is to ensure I can pack your frame safely and securely and use a signed for delivery service myself. This helps to reduce the chances of your precious frame being lost or damaged on its way to you.

    Can I choose my frame?

Yes, I am happy to work with you to find the perfect frame for you.

Recently I have been working with classic gold floating glass frames which I think look stunning in nearly every home. However, I understand everyone has personal preferences and if I can find the frame you’d like then I am happy to do whatever you’d like.

  • autumnal bridal bouquet pressed by Lancaster flower press

Will the flowers look exactly the same as on the wedding day?

Nope. It is unlikely your pressed flowers will look exactly the same as your fresh bouquet because the pressing process turns a flower into a two-dimensional piece.

Also, some flowers do change colour during the pressing process - for example, red roses go from a pillar box red to a burgundy colour.

This is not unusual and I believe it even adds to the beauty of a pressed flower frame.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, I will require a deposit to save your space in my calendar and allow me to start preparations for your bouquet. For more details on current deposit requirements and frame prices please get in touch with me.

Why is Bouquet Preservation so expensive?

I understand that the cost might seem significant but this is because Bouquet Preservation is an art that requires specialised skills and expertise.

The preservation process is meticulous and time-consuming. From careful harvesting to precise pressing and artful arrangement, every step demands attention to detail.

Remember, while the cost of bouquet preservation may seem expensive, the value lies in the enduring beauty and sentimental richness it brings to your cherished memories. If you have any specific concerns or questions, please feel free to contact me. I am here to ensure your preserved bouquet becomes a timeless treasure that brings joy for years to come.

How long will my preserved flowers last?

The longevity of a pressed flower frame depends on various factors, including the preservation techniques used, the quality of materials, and how the frame is cared for.

The environment where the pressed flower frame is displayed impacts its lifespan. Exposure to direct sunlight, high humidity, or extreme temperature fluctuations can accelerate the deterioration of the pressed flowers.

As a general estimate, a well-preserved pressed flower frame, displayed in optimal conditions and cared for properly, can last for several years to a decade or more. However, it's important to note that the vibrant colours of the flowers may gradually fade over time.
