How To Deliver Your Bouquet To Lancaster Flower Press

Everything you need to know about how to pack your wedding bouquet…

Equipment:

  • 1 x Cardboard Box

  • 1 x Cardboard Florist Vase

  • 1 x Sandwich Bag

  • Packing Paper/Newspaper

  • Elastic bands

  • A printout of the Booking Form

  • Kitchen Roll

  • Scissors

  • Packing Tape

Gather these things together BEFORE the wedding! I know you will have a lot on your plate just before your wedding but don’t leave this to the morning after! You will be hungover/tired/packing for your honeymoon/looking at wedding photos/opening your presents. Don’t add the stress of having to find the correct-sized cardboard box to your day!

Once you have sourced all your packing items it’s time to pack your bouquet.

Packing Instructions:

  1. Make sure your flowers have been in water for at least an hour before starting packing (although they should have been in water since your wedding reception).

  2. Find your box, set up your box and write in big, bold letters: FRAGILE and THIS WAY UP and FRESH FLOWERS on one or more sides of the box. On the lid write my address.

  3. Put the cardboard florist vase inside the box and pack around it with the packing paper or newspaper. Do not use any plastic-based wrapping (such as bubble wrap) as it will make your bouquet sweat and the flowers won’t press well.

  4. Now trim about 1 to 2 cm off the bottom of your bouquet stems. This will help reinvigorate your flowers and ensure they can soak up water while in the post.

  5. Wet your kitchen roll and wring out until only slightly damp. Wrap this around the bottom of the stems of your flowers. Secure with an elastic band.

  6. Wrap the sandwich bag tightly over the kitchen roll and secure it with a second elastic band. This stops any dampness from escaping from the kitchen roll and affecting the integrity of the box.

  7. Put your bouquet carefully into the cardboard vase and check it doesn’t tip over. If it does wobble or move, add more packing paper around the vase and the base of the bouquet. Once secure, wrap some more packing paper loosely around the sides and top of the bouquet.

  8. Once you’re happy with the packing and you’ve double-checked everything, add the completed booking form and tape up the top of the box.

  9. Now get down to the post office before 3 pm to ensure it will be processed the same day!

  10. When you get to the post office (or if you buy your postage online) I highly recommend using the Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1 pm service. This will cost between £15 and £20 but it’s worth every penny to ensure your bouquet arrives safely and quickly.
